So many physiological and endocrinological changes happen to a woman`s body during pregnancy. Increasing weight gain is one of the most important changes that lead to more stress and fatigue on spinal and pelvic muscles and increase joint stress. Release of relaxin hormone is one of the other changes which allow joints to easily misalign. Pelvic and spinal ligaments, joints and muscles are more vulnerable to these changes. Chiropractic has several benefits for women during pregnancy. Chiropractic maintains and establish pelvic and spine balance and alignment. Reliving back and neck pain and controlling symptoms of nausea are some of the other benefits. Also, chiropractic can reduce the risk of having a breech baby and helps mother to have natural birth. The late Larry Webster, D.C, developed a chiropractic adjustment for establishing uterus. This technique is called Webster Technique. The Manipulative and Physiological Journal reported an eighty-two per cent (82%) success of babies turning vertex in the July 2002, when chiropractors used the Webster Technique.
